Is a "Kick-Off Rally" really necessary?

It's a proven fact that fundraisers that begin with a live "Kick-Off Rally"
(meeting or assembly) often raises up to twice as much as those that
do not begin their fundraiser with a rally!

Testimonytees strongly suggests that you hold a Kick-off Rally or
meeting. When you do, it will simply make your fundraiser much more
successful than if you don't! By attending a Kick-off rally or meeting,
your participants will be much more prepared and more motivated. Your
fundraiser will be easier, run more smoothly and raise much more money!

A Kick-Off Rally, run by the group or organizations leader is the
best way to make sure your fundraiser will be a great success!

It's very easy to think that your fundraiser can be Kicked-Off without an
enthusiastic Kick-Off Rally. You've done fundraisers before, right? You
never needed them before and all your groups participants all knew what
they were supposed to do, right? Well, I'm here to tell you that by cutting
"this" corner will, without a doubt, hurt your fundraisers success.

Question:
Why does a coach call his players together for a pre-game talk before
a big professional game? You'd think that most of these players have
been playing since grade school, yet the coach still does a pre-game
pep-rally.

Answer:
All good leaders know the importance of speaking directly to their team
in an informative way, and challenging them to rise to the occasion. The
leader must also talk about the importance of what they are about to do.
To do this correctly, it needs to be done in person. If done by any other
means, it simply won't have the same impact and sense of importance
as if done in person.

The Business of Fundraising & What You should Know!

Running a fundraiser has a lot in common with running a business. Your
ability to set goals, develop a team of committed volunteers, and reaching
your fundraising goals requires the same time and talent needed to run a
successful business. Both ventures require a clear vision and share the
same goal - making a profit! If you approach your fundraising "job" as a
business owner would - you will be in the frame of mind necessary for success!

Start with a plan...The importance of this cannot be overemphasized! You
must know how much money your group really needs and when it needs it -
before you can develop any clear fundraising plans. Next, evaluate various
fundraising products by requesting samples and analyzing the profits that
can be obtained. By completing these important first steps, you will be
amazed at how easy it is to develop a fundraising calendar. and estimate
the profits you will make!  Your ability to make sound decisions takes the
guessing game out of fundraising!

Although fundraising relies on unpaid volunteer efforts while businesses use
paid employees, both groups require motivation and commitment to be
successful.  Fortunately, there are many less costly alternatives to paid
vacations and 401K plans, to motivate volunteers!  Start by simply being
generous in taking the time to thank volunteers and make them feel
appreciated and special.  Always be sure to utilize their volunteer time
wisely, and don't assume that their time is not valuable.  If possible,
coordinate an annual volunteer recognition event to recognize long term
volunteers and offer an opportunity for fellowship.  Invite a guest speaker to
give a motivational talk and provide continued inspiration.

Finally, share your successes with the local congregation, other groups
and ministries, etc.  Just as a business benefits from positive public relations,
your group or organization will profit from the exposure and may gain new
members as a result!

There is no business quite like the fundraising business! We hope these
suggested tips will help you stay focused and improve the framework
needed for a successful fundraiser.
